If you haven't seen the illustrations by Sarah over at Totally Severe, you've totally (see what I did there?) been missing out. Those bright colors, bold patterns, quirky drawings ... oh! I'm in love! You can find Sarah and her work on her website, Flickr, and Twitter, where you can download backgrounds, wallpapers, and other fabulous goodies.
And if you want to see one of her patterns in action, check me out (that's not supposed to be a shameless plug, I really do use one of her backgrounds!).

++ EDIT: Oh, I can be such a bonehead! I just realized that the grey scallop pattern in the left column is actually from the Ollibird blog, which listed some amazing Twitter backgrounds earlier this year. Check those out, too!
